Hi nerds -

I salute you from Miami, apparently known as 2024’s hurricane hotbed. Gr8.

This week, I dove deep into SEO in my digital marketing bootcamp. Did you know that 93% of all online experiences start with search engines? 🤯

Explains why search engines is being so disrupted by AI - traditional SEO techniques are based on users clicking on websites, which AI now does for us.

Get ready for the algos to change again. Big tech ain’t loosing.

TLDR: GetYouThere is an immigration app helping global talent move countries, starting with the US.

Product: Tweaks, polish, maintenance. It’s demo season!

Ops: Finding the right immigration lawyer has been hard. I can’t partner with a firm like I originally thought because of regulatory reasons, so I need a solo lawyer to partner with. If anyone comes to mind, please share recs!

Growth: I’m sharing a Notion template to kickstart people’s O-1 journey and grow our waitlist. Keep tuned for this in the coming week!

💊 Painkillers’ clients: There’s only 5 possible outcomes in customer discovery:

  1. Pain doesn’t exist.

  2. Pain exists, but the user doesn’t know.

  3. Pain exists and user knows about it, but hasn’t quantified and will do nothing about it.

  4. Pain exists, user knows about it, and has quantified it, but he/she can still afford to do nothing.

  5. Pain exists, user knows about, has quantified it, and is actively doing something about it.

Find who is in our group 5 and we have our ideal customer profile (ICP).

⌨️ Keyboard Lindy: Did you know QWERTY keyboards were designed to be the least efficient combination of letters put together for writers?

Earlier on, repeatedly striking on keys next to each other jammed typewriters, which is why, in early 1870s, Christopher Latham Sholes came up with QWERTY as a way to reduce typewriter maintenance costs.

Talk about Lindy effect..

👨🏿‍🎤 Basquiatech: Jean-Michel Basquiat rose to success during the 1980s as part of the Neo-expressionism movement.

Replace the word “art” with “tech” and see how Basquiat’s work ethic is great inspiration for building startups:

  1. Source materials: The best inspiration comes from what we’re doing when not producing art.

  2. Steal: The best works of art are original pieces built on stolen work.

  3. Message: To continuously get out of creative ruts, artists must have a message they feel they must transmit.

  4. Speed: Work so fast you don’t have time to think. That’s how the most honest, relatable work is created. Polish later.

  5. Internalize: The slow process outside the canvas is what makes an artist fast. Study, memorize, absorb, interiorize.

"We divide business plans into 3 categories: candy, vitamins, and painkillers.

We throw away the candy. We look at vitamins. We invest in painkillers.

Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.”
