Elections, markets, and winging it

Hi nerds -

I salute you from Miami, although my brain is already on the Panama elections happening this weekend.

I’ve spent the last few weeks thinking how can we enable global talent to move countries easier, faster, cheaper - to solve some of the world’s most pressing issues.

If you’re interested in moving to the US, fill out this form and I maaay be able to help!

🗳️ Elections: For the first time in history, most of the global population will be facing elections in the same year.

Having that said - I’ll never understand how we only have one window every 5 years to directly impact decision-making. Within that same time:

  • A pandemic shut the world inside AND we vaccinated ~65% of the global population

  • The global banking system almost collapsed thanks to SVB

  • The AI gold rush forever changed the global economy

  • Geopolitical tensions have risen (China-USA, Russia-Ukraine, Palestine-Israel - to name a few)

It’s no wonder there’s a rise in political dissatisfaction - societies and technology are advancing way faster than our political systems.

Transformation: People don’t buy information as much as they buy transformation.

Information is the internet’s commodity. It’s free, accessible, easy to find.

Transformation is where the value (price) is. It’s hard to do, expensive, and accessible only to a few.

👩🏻‍🎤 Product leaders: Depending on the product’s stage, we’re optimizing for different types of product leadership:

  • Explore stage: We want Visionaries who focus on the big idea, overall strategy, long-term goals, and cross-product synergies.

  • Expand stage: Visionaries will struggle here, because it’s about materializing features differentiating the product. We need Craftsmen.

  • Extract stage: To scale, we’ll need a strong Operator - someone who cares about quantitative metrics, milestones, dependencies, and shareholder validation.

Probably one of my favorite discoveries of 2023 - I went to a Jose Gonzalez concert yesterday and droooled the whole night.

If you’re into acoustics, his voice and vibe are as unique as his Sweedish-Latino heritage.
